New order for NPS: Six (6) Diverter Dampers for Combined Cycle Gas Turbine Project in Kuwait

Hyundai Heavy Industries and GE International Inc. will build a combined cycle power plant with GE Frame 9 FA gas turbines for the end-user Ministry of Electricity and Water in the State of Kuwait. Hyundai Heavy Industries has issued a purchase order to NEM Power-Systems for the engineering, fabrication and delivery of six diverters / guillotines.

 

NPS will supply the diverter dampers including guillotines with a size of 6500 x 6500 mm free gas path. The diverters are hydraulically driven. The scope includes access ladders and platforms to be reach all relevant locations of the diverter up to EL. +11.000. Furthermore, all kinds of ancillary equipment, actuators, valves and instrumentation will be supplied. Besides the technical demands for this project, the delivery time is the challenging issue because of the short delivery time of 8 months.

 

Since the diverters are located downstream GE, type 9FA gas turbines, the diverter internal components must cope with high demanding technical requirements. Additionally, as the turbine exhaust gas contains a considerable extend of sulfphur, special measurements against corrosion and wear will be provided.
