Design and supply of two (2) units Bypass System for Portugal

NPS is proud to execute the design and supply of two (2) Bypass Systems on behalf of NEM in the Netherlands. The project is called "PORTO" and comprises two 35 m high bypass stacks in front of the NEM supplied HRSG's.

The particularity of this project is, that – instead of the typical diverter damper – the switch over will be achieved by pneumatically driven louver dampers. The gas path to the HRSG can be closed by a two (2) blade multi-louver damper, Twin-Blade type, while simultaneously the louver damper to the bypass stack opens via a mechanical linked system. This measure ensures that always one of the gas paths will be open for the hot (up to 615 °C) exhaust flow. The switch over time has been specified for five (5) seconds.

Furthermore, the NPS scope of supply comprises the delivery of two (2) separate multi louver dampers, Twin-Blade type, installed in the fresh air fan ducting.

The contract has been formed between the NEM business unit NEM-MHS and the Portuguese EPC contractor Ensul Meci – Efacec for the Porto Refinery Cogeneration Plant in Portugal. Delivery is scheduled for March 2010.
